The Hudson, Wisconsin, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Gavin Edward Svien, who passed away on July 9, 2026, at the age of 16. His sudden passing has left his family, friends, classmates, teammates, coworkers, and all who knew him grieving the loss of a young man whose kindness, humor, and generous spirit brought joy to countless lives.
Born on May 28, 2010, Gavin was preparing to enter his junior year at Hudson High School. He was a beloved son, nephew, cousin, coworker, and friend whose presence made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Gavin was remembered for his bright smile, infectious laughter, and the ability to make those around him feel happy and welcome. Friends and family describe him as a genuinely kind and thoughtful young man who cared deeply for the people in his life. His willingness to help others, his curiosity, and his enthusiasm for new experiences reflected the wonderful person he was.
One of Gavin’s greatest joys came through his work at the Hudson Rod and Gun Club, where he became a valued member of the community. He embraced the outdoors, developed a passion for trap shooting, and formed meaningful friendships with coworkers and members who appreciated his dedication and positive attitude. The club became a place where Gavin could learn, contribute, and share his love for being active and involved.
Gavin also had a passion for working with his hands. He enjoyed using power tools, learning how things worked, and taking on projects that allowed him to grow his skills. His natural curiosity and determination showed the kind of person he was—someone who was always eager to learn and willing to lend a helping hand.
Beyond work and hobbies, Gavin was an active member of the Hudson community. He enjoyed participating on the Hudson swim and dive team, playing football, and spending time playing golf. Whether competing with teammates, working on a project, or enjoying peaceful moments at the lake, Gavin embraced life with energy, passion, and appreciation.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Roseann Svien; great-grandparents Mary Louise and James Svien; uncle Michael Svien; and cousin Ava Svien.
Gavin’s memory will continue through those who loved him, including his devoted mother, Jessica Svien; his uncle Paul Svien and his wife Jennifer; their children Allison and Olivia; and his extended family, friends, classmates, teammates, and the many people whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Gavin’s life will be held at the Hudson Rod and Gun Club on July 23 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., providing family, friends, and community members an opportunity to come together, share memories, and honor the life of a remarkable young man.
Although Gavin’s life ended far too soon, the love, laughter, and kindness he shared will never be forgotten. His legacy will continue through the countless memories he created and the many hearts he touched.
