The Oswego and Hannibal, New York, communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Ryleigh Nicole (LaRock) Graham, who passed away in the early hours of Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the age of 26 following complications from an unexpected brain infection. Her untimely passing has left family, friends, coworkers, students, and all who knew her grieving the loss of a compassionate young woman whose kindness, creativity, and joyful spirit touched countless lives.
Born in Oswego, Ryleigh was the beloved daughter of Michael and Joan “Joni” (Bergan) LaRock of Hannibal. She had recently married the love of her life, Matthew R. Graham, after the couple shared seven years together, making her passing all the more heartbreaking for those closest to her.
Ryleigh served as a school aide at Volney School in the Fulton City School District, where she quickly became a cherished member of the educational community. After only one year in her role, she received the Golden Apple Award in recognition of her outstanding dedication and service to students. Her patience, compassion, and unwavering commitment made a lasting difference in the lives of children, fellow educators, and families alike.
Outside the classroom, Ryleigh was known for her remarkable artistic talent. She created colorful murals throughout the school, transforming ordinary walls into vibrant works of art that inspired students and staff every day. She also enjoyed crafting, traveling, spending time outdoors, walking her beloved dog Koda, and caring for her pet tortoise, Ozzie. Those who knew her often said she had an extraordinary ability to light up any room with her warmth, infectious smile, and genuine kindness.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ryleigh is survived by her brother, Nathan LaRock, grandparents, in-laws, extended family members, and many close friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sugar Funeral Home, 224 W. 2nd Street South, Fulton, New York. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial taking place at Fairdale Cemetery.
